Louis Vuitton | Noe Bag History
Still on my mini vacation but I couldn’t resist putting aside at least 30 minutes of my evening to write up little post. I admit I am addicted to purse blogging. One collection that I have never mentioned before is the Louis Vuitton Noe Collection. Not one of my personal favorites from the House, but the history is mighty impressive.
Brief little history on the Louis Vuitton Noe Bag : The Louis Vuitton Noe was first introduced in 1932 when a champagne house contacted (Gaston Vuitton) Louis Vuitton to make a bag that would hold 5 bottles of champagne. The bag still serves this function: 4 bottles with the bottom down and the 5th inverted and nestled between the others. However, its bottle carrying capacity notwithstanding, the bag is primarily used as a practical city bag for everyday use. This drawstring bag comes in three sizes: the Noe itself (10″ x 13″), Mini Noe (7″ x 5″), and the Petite Noe (9″ x 11″). Also wondering what’s in the name? According to Louis Vuitton the name Noe is French for Noah, who was not only famous for loading animals on the Arc, but for his ability to consume wine.

The Louis Vuitton pictured above is from the fabulous Epi collection. What I love most about the Epi line is the sleek Epi texture with the discreet embossed LV on the bottom corner – it says Louis Vuitton with out having the classic monogram LV logo all over. My choice of this bag in the Epi would definitely be in the red color (pictured above), but it is only available in simple black at this time. Sorry, I could find a picture. I personally would wait for the red to come back. Retail of this Noe bag in the Epi collection is $1090 however if you like the classic monogram LV signature Noe bag the retail is slightly less for $860.

The colorful Monogram Multicolor design was produced in 2003 by creative director Marc Jacobs for the house of Louis Vuitton and Japanese artist Takashi Murakami.
This is my favorite pick out of all the Noe bags. I adore the Multicolor. The Monogram Multicolor Noe retails for $1,500 however is available at this time in the classic Monogram for only $860.

The newest addition to the Louis Vuitton Noe collection is this itty bitty Monogram Mini Noe. Measuring in at only 7″ x 5″ x 9″ this is the smallest of all the Noe bags, even smaller than the petite. The mini Noe is meant to be handheld opposed to the other Noe’s (regular and petite) which have adjustable straps to be worn as a shoulder bag.
While browsing through my archives it has come to my attention that recently I have been blogging mostly on designers such as Louis Vuitton and Hermes. Next week I am going to try to at least go a few days without mentioning the name Louis Vuitton or Hermes. It will be difficult, but I will try
